Another great reason you should employ an Apprentice!

As of April 2015 Employers who take on Apprentices who are under 21 will no longer have to pay Employers or Secondary National Insurance. It was first announced back in December 2013 however details have only just become available. The Apprentice must be earning less than £42,385 per year, the employer must know the apprentices date of birth then make changes to their NI category letter code. This information should be done before payroll run of 2015/2016. As it currently stands the 0% band applies to all Apprentices under the age of 21. In the Autumn 2014 statement by the chancellor he said he would extended the scheme to those Apprentices aged 25 or under as of April 2016 which means you will save even more. In addition to the £1,500 Age Grant the London Grant will now be £3,000 which will be available to employers who plan to grow their business by employing a young Apprentice

Please come and see us at our stand, we will have some great prizes to give away along with a list of our local jobs where we can try to find the best placement for you.

Prestigious Contract with City & Guilds
24+ Loan Funding

In October we applied for Loan funding so we will be able to deliver courses to learners who are 24+ and are in the correct job role. The Loan will work similarly to a Student Loan, you will not pay anything back until you are learning at least £21,000 a year and even then you will only pay back 9% a month of any extra income you have over £21,000 until the loan is paid off. The idea of the loan is to help people over 24 pay for their tuition fees for courses that are generally Level 3 or 4, as most people over 24 are not eligiable funding for training.

VW Festival 2014

Percy the Polo was invited to the VW festival for the weekend from 25th July to 27th July at Folkestone Racecourse. Percy has recently passed its MOT after the Haynes MechaniX and young people from Islingtons Prospex Youth club worked extremely hard on the car as part of the Haynes Pilot Project between April and May 2014.

The Festival had over 4,000 people attend which gave Percy some great publicity as the VW entuasiasts were delighted at the hard work of the team at bringing new life in to an old car. They were also impressed at the style of the car and how much knowledge the young people of Prospex youth club knew about the car and how it works.

All of the Haynes MechaniX achieved the City and Guilds accreditation which they were awarded earlier this month when they unveiled the car to J Haynes himeslf. All this hard work would not have been achieved if it had not been for London Youth, Haynes Publishing Group, Prospex and Draper Tools!

Haynes Presentations

The unveiling of Percy the Polo took place on Wednesday with presentations by J Haynes to the ten young people who have worried over the past few months to achieve their City and Guilds Entry L3 Employability Award by completely re-building and learning about car mechanics from our great mentors, who gave up their time to help teach these young people about car mechanics. Our assessor Danny Rathke ensured that all young people achieved the standards required as well as being involved in the teaching and learning process!

The event was attended by J Haynes the lead partner who supplied all the parts and manuals required to revamp the Polo, several members of the London Youth board as well as Drapers tools who supplied all the tools. Finally Beef from Prospex was there to support the young people he works wIth on a daily basis.

We are pleased to announce that this July we officially became registered with ROTO, this is a massive achievement and means we will be able to provide many more courses in the future.
