Q. How long do apprenticeships last?

A. An apprenticeship lasts for a minimum of one year. At the end of a completed apprenticeship, the employer may offer the apprentice a full-time position or an interview. However, this is not guaranteed.

Q. How do Incentives work?

A. Employers will receive a £1,000 incentive for each new apprentice that is employed from the age of 16 to 18. The incentive is paid in installments and the employer will recieve the full insentive after the apprentice completes his or her first year.

Q. Do I have to pay the national minimum wage to the apprentice?

A. Employers must pay the national apprenticeship minimum wage for the first year which is £3.50 an hour however we recommend paying an apprentice at least £150 per week.

Q. How many hours does an apprentice have to work?

A. It is up to the employer the hours that an apprentice works. However, should the apprentice work for less than 30 hours per week on ther apprenticeship, then the apprenticeship will need to be extended for a longer period of time.
